Located in Stuttgart, Steffen Cornehl is a watchmaker with a background in the traditional craftsmanship. Before he established CORNEHL WATCHES in 2016 for many years Steffen has been part of a team that worked on the timekeepers inside the Peterhof Palace museum in St Petersburg.
For several years the combination of the traditional craftsmanship and classic design flows in the collection of CORNEHL Watches: Individual timepieces all inspired by historical precision timekeepers like military deck watches and powered by Unitas movements that Steffen Cornehl modifies himself.
HOW DOES THE FORMER EXPERIENCE IN REPAIRING OLD CLOCKS AND WATCHES INFLUENCE THE DESIGN OF CORNEHL WATCHES TODAY?
Historical timepieces are the ultimate source of information and inspiration for all collections and models. It is amazing to see an old pocket watch from the likes of Lange & Söhne or Breguet and conclude: This is a beautiful watch!
Even after hundreds of years, the design is still considered beautiful. The masters of that time were able to create and design their watches according to some universal laws of aesthetics (George Daniels).
Mastering these universal laws inspires the design and the making of CORNEHL Watches. It is a quest for us to figure out: What makes a watch still compelling, admirable and adorable after 150 years? This is what drives us in our craftsmanship as we design unique timepieces for this and the following generations.
CORNEHL WHITE ROMAN
Our most recent Modell of the CORNEHL Watches Collection is the White Roman model. The lean black roman digits were very popular during the 1890. The White Roman perfectly showcases with its enamel dial the classical look of a historic pocket watch.
